GIVE YOUR REPTILE THE BEST

Give your reptile the best live food source - now available in Canada! Discoid roach feeders are incredibly healthy and low maintenance options, especially for species like bearded dragons, geckos, chameleons, tree skinks, and even for large insectivore amphibians like whites tree frogs.

Discoid cockroaches are the healthiest option for regular reptile feeders.

WORRIED ABOUT COCKROACHES IN YOUR HOME?

Worry-free! Discoid roaches are visually and nutritionally very similar to Dubia roaches, but unlike dubias, discoids are fully LEGAL Canada-wide.

These roaches cannot climb smooth surfaces and they cannot breed without proper conditions. While the adults are winged, they cannot fly.

BULK DISCOUNTS AND OPTIONS

Each juvenile pack comes with cockroaches ranging in size from 0.25inch to 1.5inch

, with unit prices decreasing with quantity. Additional discounts are offered for bulk nymphs, and a premium charge is available for choosing all large sizes.

Adult packs are 2 female and 1 male.

SHIPPING

We ship these discoid roaches across Canada and deliver locally in Newfoundland.

Roaches will ship in sealed containers with egg carton and oats/bran. Heat packs will be included at no extra charge for shipping during cold weather months.

Free local delivery and pick-up options available for Newfoundland customers in the St. John's area.

HOW TO STORE

Discoid roaches are super low maintenance to keep and breed. They are also very low odor and have far less risk of parasite transmission compared to pet store crickets.

Keep your roaches in a deep, smooth-sided tupperware container with small holes drilled on the lid for ventilation. We recommend using a fully opaque container (not clear) - as roaches do not like light. Something like this is a great option for a moderately sized colony. Use 70-100L for breeding colonies.

To eliminate odours and cut down on maintenance, provide a substrate

like loose coco-coir about 1-2 inches deep and add some springtails. Then place some empty egg cartons for hiding places (roaches love to burrow but they also enjoy congregating within the cups of egg cartons). Substrate will need to be changed out every 3-6 months depending on population ratio.

To increase rate of growth, place the container on a seedling heat mat. If you'd like to slow down growth, keep them somewhere a little cooler (no lower than 15C).

Mist the container weekly to maintain a moderate humidity level to ensure healthy molting.

I personally do not provide a dedicated water source as I provide water-dense vegetables and fruits regularly and also mist the containers. However, some keepers offer water in a shallow dish with paper towel or using water beads (like orbeez). It's important that the water dish isn't too deep and they are able to climb out of it, or they will drown

.

FEEDING YOUR FEEDERS

Provide fresh veggies weekly but only enough they can eat in that time to prevent rotting. Use up your kitchen scraps by feeding things like lettuce/greens, carrots, potato peels, apple peels, pepper cores, cucumber, and more. For protein, provide fish food flakes, dog or cat food pellets, oats, or similar. Variety is key for long-term population health. The only foods to avoid are onions, garlic, and avocados. They'll eat pretty much anything - they are roaches after all! Just make sure you only provide what they'll eat within 5-7 days to prevent rotting and smells.

That being said, it's still important to be mindful of the animal you're feeding. Gut load immediate feeders with veggies that are safe and nutritious for your pets. If the roaches have eaten something unsafe for your pet, wait around 3-7 days before feeding to your reptile.
